In 2013, Singapore announced its intention to bid for the inscription of the Singapore Botanics Garden as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. As part of its preparation process, the National Heritage Board engaged ICOMOS Singapore Ltd to review the draft Nomination Dossier, conduct further historical research, and assess the conservation status of built heritage structures within the SBG. A multidisciplinary team of historians, archaeologist, conservationists, and researchers was assembled to carry out extensive archival research, conservation field survey, historical study, analysis, and review.
